The Gallison Hill Band started, in its earliest form, years before landing in the garage on Gallison Hill Rd.
Joe and Lee started playing music together over a decade ago and in a variety of forms over the years. Joe had a small jam space in the basement of his old house in Barre, with a drum set, some amps and a PA. At first, Joe mostly stayed behind the drum kit but after a while it was pretty clear singing and guitar was where he belonged. The fellas would also play in the garage of Lee's former home in Waterbury Center. They were often choked out by the exhaust of an old kerosene heater that would roar thru the long winter and late nights while they jammed in the unheated and uninsulated garage. Joe and Lee were the constants but many friends would frequently jam with them helping grow their musicianship, catalog and the foundation of their future band.
Over the last few years, Joe through his daughter James met her friend Lillian and her father Graham. Soon after, Graham started playing keys with the fellas in the Gallison Hill garage.
The Gallison Hill Band (GB) was formed with Joe on vocals and rhythm guitar, Lee on lead guitar and vocals and Graham on keys and vocals and they began playing open mic at Bent Nails Bistro, in Montpelier.
After celebrating a birthday for his good friend Tony Popoli at Bent Nails Bistro, Joe invited Tony back to the garage on Gallison Hill to try his hand at drumming. Tony has been playing with the band ever since.
A few months later, Joe invited Austin Nava to bring his guitar over and play along with the band. Everyone was taken by his voice and encouraged him to continue singing and join the band. Jesse Moorman, our most recent addition joined on Bass in January of 2023 and has been a problem ever since!
The first big public event that the Gallison Hill Band played together was the Fall Festival in Montpelier, 9/24/22, with the success of the their first big show, TGB is ready to play more!
TGB looks forward to seeing you out there and we hope you bring your friends!
